Service Description
What is Botox? Botox is a simple, nonsurgical treatment, injected directly into the muscles. Aesthetically, it’s used to improve the look of mild to moderate dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles in motion). Botox is meant for people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. Also, it reduces muscle activity that causes lines and wrinkles. When treated optimally, Botox lasts an average of 3-4 months. Botox injection is probably the most common and widely used cosmetic rejuvenation procedure. Botox is a protein that blocks the nerve impulses to a muscle, preventing the muscle from contracting and producing a wrinkle. Botox reduces facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes and in the area around the eyes (commonly termed “crows-feet”). It also can be used to rejuvenate the neck and reduce wrinkles. Botox is used to treat eye disorders such as Blepharospasms and Strabismus. Botulinum toxin B has been used to treat various forms of dystonia that affects the neck, face, voice box, or the smooth muscle in the bladder thereby controlling muscle spasm and pain. However, neurons generate new nerve endings that rekindle the dystonia, so the improvements do not last for long. Hence the treatment needs to be repeated every 3 to 4 months. Hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) of the palms and underarms can be corrected with the help of Botox Head and neck tremors, facial spasms are being effectively treated by Botox.
